Zhang Kai
“A Boy with an Aura”
Zhang Kai is a graduate of the Sichuan Institute of Fine Art. The Institute is the current powerhouse of Chinese contemporary art and cradle of many of China’s outstanding artists.
In the theatre of an ordinary existence Zhang Kai canvasses the romance, anxiety, loneliness, and vulnerability of youth. His paintings have the integrity and honesty of a young man who paints with his heart.
In his application of contemporary color, he sensitively heightens the drama, rhythm and intensity of his portrait, in a unique personal style that is hypnotic, fresh and engaging.
Destined to be a young star of Chinese contemporary art, Zhang Kai will present his second major solo exhibition “In the Pursuit of Happiness” in Shanghai’s prestigious independent gallery Studio Rouge at the Bund, in September. |

陆坤
Lu Kun
Lu Kun's aesthetic mission is to build a bridge between the heady days of the 1930s Jazz Era of Shanghai and the fashion needs of today. He does not, however, like the term "fusion" as it is passé. Clearly, "fusion" genuinely existed in Shanghai approximately one hundred years ago but now, what Lu Kun is doing is making the fashion world aware of the "Shanghai-chic" style. To wit, many call his style "post-fusion."
Lu Kun is only 25 years old, which makes him by far the youngest Haute Couture designer in China. Lu Kun became famous in Shanghai through his Haute Couture designs and that has been his focus for the last 4 years. A few seasons ago we decided to launch a ready-to-wear collection. Lu Kun does not like to call his style neither "east-meets-west" nor "fusion" as both terms have been severely overused and dont really reflect his style. He prefers the term "Shanghai-chic", but some people in Shanghai refer to his style as "post-fusion" as the fusion style already existed in Shanghai in the 1920's and 30's. Furthermore, Lu Kun in the last 2 years created, by himself, a total on more than 200 Haute Couture designs as well as over 600 RTW designs. Lu Kun also creates and cuts the patterns for all the designs by himself. |

Pierre Ginioux has been collecting antiques from all over the world from the last three decades. Today he would like to share his interest over the 19th Century French period through its collection of very unique swords that witnessed dramatic moments of history.
Each of these pieces has its own story.
The very exclusive antique unveiled for the event had been used by the French army in the 19th Century. Details such as its hallmark, the name of the Imperial factory and the date of production make us travel through history back to Napoleon III. |
